What sets Infold apart: natural conversation, controlled actions

Infold is a managed AI receptionist for Canadian service businesses. Three things set it apart: the AI handles the conversation while your rules control every action, we build and run it for you, and call data is hosted in Canada by default.

Here’s what each of those means on a real call — and where the limits are.

What does “natural conversation, controlled actions” mean?

It means the AI understands the caller, but your rules decide what happens next. Infold keeps understanding a request separate from acting on it.

Callers talk the way people talk. They interrupt, change their minds and explain the problem before they say what they want. The conversational side of Infold is built for that. The action side — booking, texting, transferring, flagging an emergency — only runs when the rules you approved say it can.

01 Understand

A natural conversation: it works out what the caller needs, in their own words — interruptions, accents, changes of mind.

02 Check

Your rules, checked before it acts:

  • The details you require
  • The services you offer
  • The prices you approve
  • A live calendar check, where connected

03 Act

Only when the checks pass, it:

  • Books, changes or cancels
  • Texts a confirmation
  • Transfers to a person

Otherwise, it takes the details for your team.

How a call runs: the AI understands, your rules decide, only checked actions run.

Take a booking. Hearing “Saturday morning works” isn’t enough. Infold needs the right service, the right person and an open time. It only offers times you’ve opened, re-checks your calendar at the moment it books, and only then tells the caller they’re confirmed. If the slot is gone, it offers the next one. If you book on paper or in a system that can’t be connected, it holds the request and texts your team to confirm. The caller gets an honest next step instead of a booking that doesn’t exist.

Who decides what on a call?

Part of the call Who decides What that looks like
Understanding the caller The AI “Our furnace quit and it’s minus 20” is recognised as no heat — an emergency.
What it may say Information you approve Your hours, your services and only the prices you’re willing to quote.
What it may do Your rules, checked before anything runs It books open times only and re-checks the calendar at the moment it books.
What counts as urgent You No heat, a flood, a cracked tooth, a court deadline — sent to your on-call person by call or text.
Anything outside the rules Your team A detailed message with the caller’s name, number and what they need.

How does Infold handle a call, step by step?

Every call follows the same four steps, whatever the business:

  1. Understand. It listens, asks your intake questions and works out what the caller needs.
  2. Check. It confirms it has the details your rules require and that the action is allowed — the right service, an open time, the right person.
  3. Act. It books into your calendar, texts the caller a confirmation, transfers the call or alerts your on-call person.
  4. Confirm or hand off. The caller hears what actually happened. Anything it can’t do becomes a message for your team, with the details already written down.

When you open in the morning, a summary of every call, booking and message from the night is waiting for you.

Why is Infold managed instead of do-it-yourself?

Because an AI receptionist is only as good as its setup, and most owners don’t have spare evenings to build and tune one. With Infold, we do the work:

  • A 30-minute setup call. Your hours, services, the prices you quote, your booking rules and who gets urgent calls.
  • We build it — you try to break it. We set up your receptionist and connect your calendar. Call it yourself; we tune it until it handles your hardest calls.
  • You keep your number. Calls forward to Infold when you choose — after hours, when you’re busy, or always.
  • We keep improving it. After launch we review calls with you and adjust the answers and rules as your business changes.

Live in 2 business days once we have access and your approvals. You don’t configure software, and you don’t need a perfect process diagram to start.

What do “your rules” control?

Everything that matters to your business: what it says, what it books and who hears about what.

  • What it answers. Only from information you approve. If it doesn’t know, it says so and takes a message.
  • What it books. Only the services and times you open, with the details your team asks for every time.
  • What counts as urgent. You define the emergencies and who gets them, by call or text, straight away.
  • When a person takes over. A caller who wants a person is transferred or gets a callback, by your rules.
  • What it never does. No clinical, legal or diagnostic advice. Dental offices, clinics, veterinary clinics and law firms get intake only.

If a question falls outside your rules, the answer is never a guess. It’s a detailed message for your team and a promised callback.

Will callers know they’re talking to an AI?

Yes. Every greeting tells callers they’re speaking with your AI assistant. Then it does what they called for — answers the question, books the time, texts the confirmation. No phone tree, no “press 1”.

Where is call data hosted?

In Canada by default. Call data is stored in Canada as standard, not as an upgrade.

Hosting is about the whole path a call takes, not the phone number. A Canadian number doesn’t prove where data lives — the phone carrier, speech recognition, the language model, storage and logs all matter. When you need more control, we go further:

  • Canada-only processing, end to end
  • Deployment in your own cloud or on your servers
  • Models trained privately on your data

How Infold handles call data explains the default setup. Custom and enterprise builds covers the rest.

What does Infold connect to?

Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Open Dental, Shopmonkey and HubSpot connect today. Other systems — Jobber, Clio, Dentrix and more — are connected during setup. Where a system can’t be connected, Infold takes the request and texts your team to confirm, so nothing is promised that your schedule can’t keep.

Each industry gets intake built around its own calls. See how that works for dental offices, HVAC companies and law firms.

What does Infold cost?

One plan, two ways to pay. C$699/month billed yearly (C$8,388), or C$999/month with no contract. Setup is included. Both Infold plans include 100 handled calls a month; extra calls are C$4.99 each. Prices in CAD, plus applicable taxes.

If Infold isn’t right for your business, email us within 30 days of your go-live date and we’ll refund everything you’ve paid — setup and extra calls included. One guarantee per business. See full pricing.

How can you tell whether Infold fits your business?

Bring us the calls you worry about. The most useful demo shows three things: your ordinary call, your awkward exception, and what you see the next morning.

You don’t need a script. Bring the calls your team misses, the software you use and the questions you answer every day. Book a 20-minute demo and we’ll show you Infold handling calls like yours — or hear sample calls first.

Common questions

Is Infold’s AI completely predictable?

No AI conversation is. Speech and language models are probabilistic, so we don’t promise error-free calls. What we make explicit is what Infold may do, what it needs before it acts and what happens when something fails — and we test those paths with you before go-live.

Can Infold follow our existing workflow?

Yes. We build it around your services, intake questions, booking rules and who gets urgent calls. Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Open Dental, Shopmonkey and HubSpot connect today; other systems are connected during setup.

What should we bring to a demo?

Three ordinary calls, the software you use, and the call that worries you most — the after-hours emergency, the caller who insists on a person, the booking that doesn’t fit. We’ll show you how Infold handles each one.
