Fit, not features

Which one should you choose?

Both are good at different jobs. Start with the reasons Ruby may suit you better.

Choose Ruby if…

  • Every caller should reach a real person. Ruby says it “is not an automated virtual receptionist” — a live receptionist answers, day or night.
  • You get Spanish-speaking callers: Ruby includes optional 24/7 Spanish bilingual service at no extra cost.
  • You want people doing more than answering: Ruby’s receptionists also collect payments and help with outbound calls.
  • You want live chat on your website run by the same company that answers your phone.

  • You want a price that doesn’t grow with call length: 100 handled calls a month, and spam or quick hang-ups never count.
  • You want callers booked straight into Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Open Dental, Shopmonkey or HubSpot — not just a message for you to return.
  • You need call data hosted in Canada by default, with Canada-only processing available.
  • You want it built for you and live fast: Live in 2 business days once we have access and your approvals.

Will callers talk to a person or an AI?

With Ruby, a person — that is the whole point of the service. With Infold, callers talk to an AI receptionist that says up front it’s an AI assistant, answers from the information you approve and books the time. Anyone who asks for a person, or whose call your rules mark as urgent, is transferred to your team or flagged for a callback right away.

How does the bill work: minutes or calls?

Ruby bills receptionist minutes, rounded up to the next full minute, and charges an overage rate it doesn’t publish once you pass your plan. So what 100 calls cost depends on how long they last: its 200-minute plan is $720 a month. Infold counts handled calls, not minutes — 100 handled calls a month at C$699/mo billed yearly (C$8,388) or C$999/mo month-to-month, in Canadian dollars plus tax, with extra calls capped unless you approve more.

Does the appointment actually get booked?

Ruby’s receptionists schedule appointments once Ruby has reviewed your online calendar. Infold books, changes and cancels in Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Open Dental, Shopmonkey and HubSpot today, re-checking the slot at the moment it books; other practice and job software is connected during setup.

Where is call data stored?

Ruby’s pricing and FAQ pages don’t say where call recordings and messages are stored. Infold hosts call data in Canada by default, and Canada-only processing is available. If data residency matters to your clients, ask every provider to put it in writing.

How to switch

How do you switch from Ruby to Infold?

Keep your number: we build and test your Infold receptionist first, then you point your call forwarding at Infold. If Ruby hosts your phone number, ask Ruby to move it back to your phone provider before you cancel. Ruby’s cancellation takes effect at the end of your monthly billing period, so plan your go-live date near it.

Live in 2 business days once we have access and your approvals. You keep your number the whole time.
